Hello and welcome to the Imagine Charter Pre-K program. Our preschool program utilizes curriculum from Core Knowledge, Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA), Zoophonics and Handwriting Without Tears. We are excited to introduce these to you and your child as they present fun hands on activities to help them learn and grow. Our ultimate goals over the next year are to have your child develop a love for learning, create lifelong friendships and prepare them for their next adventure in Kindergarten.

We are looking forward to getting to know your family, but before we can do that, you need to know about us.

My name is Danielle Gallegos and I have been teaching Pre-K professionally since 2007. I am currently continuing my education to obtain my masters in early childhood. This will be a slow process but learning new things is always exciting! I am the oldest of 3 girls and 18 cousins, so children have always been a huge part of my life. I live in Mead with my husband Joe and two Daughters; Olivia (9) and Gianna (4) and our Chocolate Lab, Cash. My girls are avid dancers and performers and inspire me every day to be a better teacher and person. This is my fourth year here at Imagine and I am so excited to be back. I am so proud to be a part of this amazing school community. Besides teaching, my passions are: writing, reading, history, yoga, dance, music and crafts. I also love to fly fish and spend time in the outdoors. This year is going to be  a wonderful adventure and I am thrilled to be a part of your family!

My name is Maria Ochoa and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year. I live in Longmont with my husband Joao and my Daughter Sophia who will be in first grade next year at Imagine. I have volunteered in the children’s ministry program at my church for the past 4 years. I love doing art with preschoolers and inspiring their creativity. This is my second year at Imagine and I am looking forward to teaching Spanish and leading the afternoon program.  When I am not teaching I enjoy going on bike rides, swimming, and spending time with my family.

Dear Families,

Although February is a short month it is jam packed with lots of science and hands on learning for our Pre-Kinders. Last week we continued our unit on lights and shadows and added air and weather to the mix after groundhog day. We learned about Punxsutawny Phil and made a prediction. Would he would see his shadow or not? He did and that means 6 more week of winter L. We are hoping he is wrong as we have really enjoyed the weather lately! This week we will be preparing for Valentine’s day and talking about friendship. The following week will be all about space- the final frontier, followed by dinosaurs. During the month of March we will begin our study on habitats around the world. Feel free to head to the website and check out lesson plans and units of study. We are working hard on handwriting, letter, and number recognition.

Many of the kiddos have been doing an amazing job on turning in the homework. Thank you for taking time at home to do this. Another thing you can do at home is to make sure that your child is writing their name using upper and lower case letters appropriately. We have been working at this during signing in as well as on our projects at school but some extra practice would be great.

Please don’t forget to bring in a box sometimes this week for your child to decorate for Valentine’s day. If for some reason you do not have a shoe box, a large tissue box or cereal box will work just as well. We are decorating all week so please bring them in as soon as you can! Don’t forget to get started on your valentines at home. Remember- do not fill out the “To” portion of your child’s Valentines just your child’s name.

Valentines Party: Our Valentine Party will be on Tuesday February 14th. We will begin at 10:15. We have crafts, games and a friendship fruit salad to enjoy. We will also be checking our mailboxes for special messages from friends and teachers. I have been asked a few times if parents should attend the party. It is totally up to you! If you would like to come spend time with us we can certainly use the help, if you have other plans that is ok too!
