Welcome to 1st Grade!
Hi, my name is Christine Velasquez. I was born in Jamestown, New York but was raised most of my life in California’s Central Valley. I love animals and raised a variety of them while growing up on a dairy. In 2009, I married my husband, Oscar and moved to Southern California. We moved to Colorado last year and love the area. We have a cat named Sabrina. I enjoy traveling, reading, animals and cooking. My favorite place to visit is Yosemite National Park and I absolutely love flowers! I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts and my teaching credential from Fresno Pacific University in Fresno, California. I then completed my Master’s Degree in Learning Handicapped and Resource Specialist Certification at Fresno Pacific University. I have had the wonderful opportunity of receiving trainings in other areas such as Early Literacy Development, English Language Development, and Reading Recovery. I began teaching 27 years ago in Tulare City School District. I was able to teach in a variety of teaching situations. I taught as a Resource Specialist in Special Education (6 years), First grade (4 years), Kindergarten (3 years), Title One Resource Teacher (2 years) and 3rd grade (2 years). I enjoyed teaching for 17 years and then worked in another field for 3 1/2 years. When I moved to Southern California, I taught Kindergarten for 8 years in a private school. I participated in several extra curricular activities which included after school pre-school, after school migrant tutoring, one on one tutoring, new teacher mentoring and teacher assistance programs. Last year, I was fortunate to teach 4th grade here at Imagine. I am looking forward to returning to my roots in the early primary grades as a 1st grade teacher.
It will be an amazing year!
